Refocusing on Classroom Support

With tight budgets and layoffs, how UNCW restructured its desktop support team to put more focus on the classroom technology and the academic mission of the university.

In an effort to provide better classroom support as well as emergency notifications from the classroom, UNCW installed IP intercom systems in all classrooms. However, what we found is that the instructors were less than pleased with classroom response times. We also saw a need to better collaborate on emerging technologies to confirm we are anticipating, installing and supporting what the faculty and students want. This new unit will also provide training to faculty/instructors to ensure they feel comfortable and competent using the systems.

This session will cover what we did to address those issues, how we restructured an already lean team and what the response has been from the faculty thus far.
