Banner Custom Secure Self Service Random PIN Distribution

In response to client demand, ITS has created a mechanism based on the Banner Self Service Framework to allow Students and Employees to request new randomized PINS via the Web.

For persons with an active email within Banner they can receive their new PIN within minutes via a SSL protected Browser page.

For persons without email addresses on file or who desire paper distribution they can request that a PIN letter be mailed to them at an address already on file.

Actions within the system are logged and viewable by designated administrative staff within entry offices (Admissions, Registrar, HR, etc).

This system has drastically reduced the number of Service desk calls requesting PIN resets and standardized PIN distribution across all entering populations.

This presentation will cover the business case, technical architecture, end user experience, and administrative office user experience.
