Welcome to Winston-Salem, NC and to UNC Cause 2011. Our theme for this conference is Cause 4 Cause.  There are several reasons why we chose this theme.  The UNC Cause Annual Conference is one of the best values in training and continuing education for university techies.  It is also a unique opportunity for IT professionals from across the UNC system to share and collaborate with one another.  In this time of severe budget constraints, this year’s meeting has exceptional merit. There will be a wide variety of sessions to help us work smarter while we continue to work harder.  The planning committee has been committed to keeping conference costs low while offering a quality experience.

Perhaps most importantly, the 2011 Cause 4 Cause theme was chosen to honor the late Robyn Render.  Robyn was the UNC-GA CIO from 2001 to 2008.  She was a strong advocate for the UNC Cause Conference, believing in the essential need for IT professional development.  Robyn passed away after a battle with cancer in September 2010.  Watch for opportunities to contribute money towards the Robyn Render Scholarship Fund during the conference this year.

Vendor support for this conference continues to be excellent, and is the main reason we are able to keep the conference registration fee so affordable.  A special thank you to the vendors who have sponsored the food breaks and special evening events.  Please take some time and visit with the vendors to show them how much we appreciate their support.  The vendor area opens at 1:00 on Tuesday and will close on Wednesday at 5:00.

On behalf of the planning committee, thank you for attending the 2011 conference and we look forward to an excellent conference.
